Tsetan Chomphel arrived in Tibetan Homes Foundations (THF) with 37 children when he was 10 years old. "I am from the province of Amdo, eastern Tibet. I had two elder brothers, Tashi Dhondup and Tashi Tsering. Tashi Dhondup is the brother who died in prison. Tashi Tsering works as an electricion and lives in Nepal. I have one older sister, Dickey attending college in Maharastra." "While I was leaving from my own village, I went to a few of friends' places, just to say good-bye. Some of them came to my place also. Going to India was very sad for me. To leave my father and friends behind was very hard. I only knew I was going to India one week before I left. We didn't take much stuff with us because the Chinese may catch us on the way. That's why we took very little stuff." © 2002 FOTWA. All rights reserved.
